Stretus's regulatory position
Stretus is execution and research technology. Users author their own trading rules, allocate their own capital, and route orders through their own broker account. Stretus supplies the software that turns a stated rule into an order and the software that measures how that rule behaved in the past.
That sentence is the boundary of what this platform does, and everything on this page follows from it.
The three facts that define the position
1. Stretus never holds your capital
Money stays in your broker or exchange account for the entire lifecycle of a strategy. Stretus holds credentials that let it place orders; it holds no client funds, operates no pooled account, and has no mechanism to move money between users. When a strategy trades, it trades from your account balance at your broker. See Capital model.
2. Every rule that trades is a rule you approved
The AI assembles a strategy from what you asked for and shows it to you as a complete, readable object (entry rule, exit rule, stop, target, sizing, trading window) before anything is backtested, and again before anything is deployed. No strategy deploys itself, and no strategy changes its own rules after deployment. Deployment is an explicit action you take on a specific strategy with a specific capital allocation.
3. Stretus does not tell you what to trade
The platform will not name an instrument for you to buy, will not rank securities by attractiveness, and will not assess whether a strategy suits your personal circumstances. The AI has a dedicated refusal path for requests of that shape, see What the AI will not do. The research screens name instruments and price levels, and they are framed as research candidates rather than recommendations; the reasoning behind that framing is on Discovery & research.
Registered capacity, stated precisely
Two things are routinely confused, including in earlier versions of this documentation. They are different registrations under different regulations with different permitted activities.
| Investment Adviser | Research Analyst | |
|---|---|---|
| Regulation | SEBI (Investment Advisers) Regulations, 2013 | SEBI (Research Analysts) Regulations, 2014 |
| Core permitted activity | Personalised advice on securities, including suitability assessment for a specific client | Producing research reports and general recommendations, not client-specific advice |
| On Stretus | No role on this platform holds this capacity | The Research Analyst role, onboarded through a documented verification pipeline |
Stretus onboards Research Analysts. It does not onboard Investment Advisers, and no Stretus role, including the Research Analyst role, is presented as authorised to give a specific user personalised investment advice. The onboarding pipeline, its document requirements and what activation permits are documented on Research Analyst programme.
Any user may publish crypto strategies to the community section. That user is a strategy author and publisher. They are not your adviser, they have no visibility into your account, they owe you no duty of care, and nothing about a published listing constitutes advice to you. See Publisher rules for what a publisher may and may not do.
Terminology this documentation does not use
These words were removed from the documentation and are not used anywhere in it. The reason is the same in each case: the word asserts a regulated capacity, a forward-looking return, or a relationship that does not exist.
| Not used | Used instead | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Advisor, adviser (for a user) | Strategy author, publisher | Asserts a registered advisory capacity the user does not hold |
| Copy trading, copy-trade | Deploy a community-published strategy | Copy trading has no permitted form for unregistered intermediaries in India |
| Recommended, picks | Health score, lowest drawdown | The platform ranking a security-related product in the first person reads as a recommendation |
| Guaranteed, risk-free, cannot lose | (never used) | Assured-outcome language on a market product |
| Profit machine | Profit factor 1.5+ | Characterises a strategy as a reliable generator of profit from one backward-looking ratio |
| Estimated gain, projected return, potential return | Historical return on this allocation | Forward-looking return attached to a monetary figure |
| Earn income automatically | Run your rules automatically | Describes an outcome, not the mechanism |
| Prove the edge | Test the rules on historical data | A backtest measures past behaviour; it proves nothing about the future |
If you find any of the left-hand column in the product or in these pages, it is a defect. Report it through in-app support.
What is not settled
This documentation states what the software does. Two questions about what the platform is permitted to do are open and are named here rather than glossed over:
Paid strategy subscriptions. A publisher can set a subscription price on a listing. That price is stored and displayed, and no payment is collected. There is no charging code in the platform. The day money changes hands for another person's securities strategy, the platform's regulatory character changes materially. That is a decision for counsel, not a product decision. Documented at Strategy visibility.
Retail OTC forex. An OANDA adapter exists and OTC FX instruments are defined. The
picker that would expose them to users is disabled by default (ENABLE_FX_OTC_PICKER).
Retail OTC forex on offshore venues is a distinct and severe question under FEMA and RBI
rules, separate from equity or crypto. It is off, and it stays off pending a specific
opinion.

This page describes how the software behaves and the reasoning behind the language this documentation uses. It is not a legal opinion, and it does not establish that any particular activity is permitted for you in your jurisdiction. If you are unsure whether you may use systematic execution software, or publish strategies for others to run, take advice before you do either.
